  • Responsibilities

    As a Mental Health Professional/Life Coach with Life Consultants, Inc., you will provide quality Mental Health Skill-Building services to adults through training and support; enable clients to achieve and maintain community stability and independence in the most appropriate, least restrictive environment. A Mental Health Professional/Life Coach will train and reinforce functional skills and appropriate behaviors related to the Client/Individual's mental health and safety, activities of daily living and use of community-based resources. This position reports directly to the Clinical Supervisor.

    The ideal candidate must be in the Danville/South Boston, VA area.

    Responsibilities

    Render client services in the community, including but not limited to hospitals, group homes & client's homes

    Transport clients to appointments, errands, etc.

    Maintain a caseload, ensuring the provision of Mental Health Skill-Building Services to adults through goal-directed training in the following areas; functional skills and appropriate behaviors related to the individual’s health and safety, activities of daily living, use of community resources (including but limited to supporting clients with locating shelter/housing, financial and food assistance, etc.), assistance with medication management, and monitoring health, nutrition and physical condition.

    Provide mental health skill building services that are reflective of the attention to the individual’s specific needs.

    Provide supportive counseling/crisis intervention services to individuals as needed.

    Develop, maintain, and effectively implement the client's Individualized Service Plan.

    Develop, implement, and review client's monthly and quarterly reports, discharge plans, and produce high quality, punctual, and accurate documentation of all casework consistent with Virginia Department of Behavioral Health & Developmental Services licensure and agency policies.

    Maintain thorough records of all services being provided to clients.

    Attend and participate in staff meetings and agency trainings.

    Coordinate care to ensure client's health challenges are addressed.

    Participate in individual and group supervisions and maintain ongoing communication with program staff and other treatment providers as necessary.

    Qualifications

    All Life Coach/Qualified Mental Health Staff must hold a Master’s or Bachelor’s degree in Human services or a related field* from an accredited college or university, or must be a QMHP (Qualified Mental Health Professional-A).

    Reliable transportation and willingness to travel within the service area

    Strong organizational skills

    *The Virginia Board of Counseling recognizes the following degrees as “human services or related fields:” Art Therapy, Behavioral Sciences, Child Development, Child and Family Studies/Services, Cognitive Sciences, Community Mental Health, Counseling (Mental health, Vocational, Pastoral, etc.), Counselor Education, Early Childhood Development, Education (with a focus in psychology and/or special education), Educational Psychology, Family Development/Relations, Gerontology, Health and Human Services, Human Development, Human Services, Marriage and Family Therapy, Music Therapy, Nursing, Psychiatric Rehabilitation, Psychology, Rehabilitation Counseling, School Counseling, Social Work, Special Education, Therapeutic Recreation, Vocational Rehabilitation

    The Virginia Board of Counseling may consider other degrees in human services or in fields related to the provision of mental health services.
