FULL-TIME POSITION.
SUMMARY: Responsible for the performance of radio dispatch functions in accordance with federal, state, and local laws, statues, and regulations, as well as company policies and local medical protocols. Performs emergency medical communications relating to medical call taking, as well as radio communications and other related work. He or she along with the field supervisors maintains control with the active ambulance and mobility units to provide an optimum response relating to medical need set by the local governing medical control authorities.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Ensure daily customer happiness
Ensures the answering of all telephone line immediately in coordination with the Control Center Team.
Answers and provides accurate information for all United Way referral calls
Answers and provides courteous assistance for all Red Cross emergency referral calls
In conjunction with the EMD, provides prompt, courteous call taking, pre-scheduling of calls, and response information to medic unit personnel
Assures that the work area is clean, equipped with all necessary material, and that the equipment is operating properly at the beginning and ending of each shift
Attends training sessions as required to maintain certification
Prepares computer-generated reports and other incidental and general information for the Director of Operations as directed.
Responsible for efficient, effective unit deployment through intelligent use of System Status Plan to ensure the best, safest response time performance possible
Provides coordination of available resources as efficiently and effectively as possible to ensure prompt handling of all mobility transports.
The ability to think and act quickly in stressful situations
Responsible for maintaining a good working relationship with management staff, fellow associates, public safety personnel, hospital and nursing home personnel, and the general public
Ability to prepare detailed written reports
Other roles and responsibilities as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENTS:
Must be at least 18 years of age
Must have a valid driver’s license and maintain a good driving record
Must have a high school diploma or G.E.D.
Must possess current BLS card
Must successfully complete Medical Priority Dispatch Certification program
Must complete specified Control Center orientation
Accurate, basic typing skills and computer operation knowledge
Exceptional knowledge of all resources available, i.e. cross index, CAD, paging systems, phone system, radio transmitter equipment
Exceptional knowledge of city streets and general service area geography
Exceptional knowledge of the Medical Priority Dispatch System and its use in accordance with local protocols and company policies
Exceptional knowledge of all first responders and mutual aid ambulance providers in and around our service areas and how and when they are activated
Responsible for overseeing scheduling needs and volume demands and report any unusual circumstances or resource requirements immediately to the Control Center Supervisor and the Director of Operations.
Must be interviewed by the Vice President of Resource Performance or designee
