Exercise/Education/Life Skills Tutor--Seeking a fun/reliable person to help an active young man (age 22) with autism in Durham/Chapel Hill develop and practice: language and coping skills, practical academics, leisure skills, social skills, and independent living skills (cooking/chores/leisure activities). Also support him with exercise (biking, jogging, swimming, hiking, stretching/yoga/ pt exercises & rock climbing), going on community/social outings, and job/volunteer skills. Person should be able to plan to exercise 1+ hours per work session. Help us get used to being out of covid lockdown, and back carefully into more home and community activities. Seeking individuals with some experience, but we will also provide additional training. Weekday shifts include most likely afternoon/ evening shifts. Potential weekend shifts include: 8-1/3pm or 3-9/10pm. Staff will need to be available for cross training with senior staff plus a team meeting one Saturday per month. Both weekday and weekend availability are required. We have a team, so hope to have a balanced approach so staff can be reliable, but have time off for a balanced lifestyle. Possible 10-20+ hours per week commitment for a minimum of 1+ year. Prefer individuals who are currently socially distancing/ interested in being part of our home "Pod/team)."
