Job Description

Life Perspectives is seeking a college student or similar looking to use their social media and visual skills to help those impacted by pregnancy loss, including miscarriage, abortion and other reproductive losses. We are a nonprofit with no religious or political affiliation, offering a paid internship that may also qualify for college credits.

Working closely with the Director of Communications, this internship will expand our social media reach with more robust postings across all major social media platforms. With supervision, the Digital and Social Media Intern will create interactive and highly engaging social media content that increases awareness and use of our resources while maintaining a very delicate touch on extremely sensitive and emotionally charged subjects like pregnancy loss and abortion.

The role is largely social media, but does include help with other communications functions, such as writing, press lists, research and analysis. Our organization is growing, so there is the opportunity for the right person to evolve this role into a larger position.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

Social Media

• Post events, news and other items on social media
• Post new, fresh content that raises awareness of our healing resources and our courses for healthcare professionals
• With experience, this role can evolve into content generation, including visual and video content and buzzfeed-style posts

Other

• Update and maintain media list
• Update and maintain the online shop
• Research for awards, speaking events & conferences

REQUIRED SKILLS

• Outstanding communication skills
• Ability to communicate diplomatically, compassionately, and professionally with diverse constituencies
• Experience in working successfully as a part of a growing team
• Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Creative Suite, and other basic office tech skills
• A caring and kind personality that fits within our goal to provide comfort, hope, and healing for those impacted.
• A thirst for understanding the latest social media apps, their evolving popularity, and how they can be used to help people heal after reproductive and pregnancy loss

PREFERRED SKILLS

• Available to work on site in our San Diego or Chicago office
• Passion and alignment with Life Perspectives’ mission and values
• A portfolio of success within TikTok, Insta, and others (personal or professional)
• Knowledge of Discord, Yoast and Community.com
• Interest in growing your role as our organization grows
• Interest or knowledge of SEO, Google Ads, Google Analytics
• Interest in content creation, both visual and written
• Bilingual in Spanish or another language
