• INSURANCE - COMMUNICATION - FINANCIAL COUNSELING *

Well, the Insurance Specialist here at LifeScape may fit those needs! This position ensures insurance coverage for all new services and provides financial counseling to responsible parties within our Outpatient Rehabilitation in LifeScape's Medical Service Department. This position is important when it comes to ensuring insurance coverage for new services, and providing financial counseling to the responsible parties. Here are some of the other tasks that you will complete within this role -

• Verifies insurance for initial visits, and when changes in insurance companies are reported
• Obtains pre-determination or prior authorization from insurance companies to ensure funding approval for services, and communicates the obtained information with the patient, or guardian
• Ensures patients/families/guardians sign forms, accepting financial responsibility
• Works with therapists to assure documentation meets requirements of various payers
• Communicates with billing staff about changes in payer guidelines, changes in reimbursement, specific problems with individual payers, and all other matters that need to be communicated between prior authorization and billing areas
• Provides counseling to patients or family members at the clinic regarding insurance and/or payer information
• Works closely with insurance companies to ensure all therapists are credentialed
• Stays current on guidelines related to reimbursements

Required Skills Required Experience

A High School diploma/GED is required. Two years of prior insurance authorization experience in a healthcare clinic environment is required. Any prior experience working with individuals with disabilities or chronic health conditions is preferred.
