    General Description

    The Manager of Volunteer Services (part-time position) is responsible for coordinating and implementing recruitment, retention and volunteer programs for the organization to ensure low turnover and availability of qualified applicants to meet our youths’ needs.  Duties include coordinating all aspects of recruiting community individuals and corporations for volunteer projects in Group Homes and mentors for our Mentor Programs, screening, tracking and monitoring volunteers; developing communication strategies to improve recruiting and retention effectiveness; performing special projects; entering all data in agency wide database, preparing and submitting reports.

    The Manager of Volunteer Services is hired by the Executive Director and reports to the Executive Director.

     

    Responsibilities

    A.    Volunteer Recruitment.

    o   Manage volunteer recruiting, screening and interviewing.

    o   Conduct volunteer information sessions collaborative with Mentor Coordinators.

    o   Develop, coordinate and implement marketing, recruitment, and strategies to ensure availability of qualified volunteers.

    o   Use marketing and public relations tools to publicize opportunities for volunteers.

    o   Outreach to corporate affinity groups with emphasis on LGBTQ+ groups

    o   Develop and maintain relationships with other volunteer organizations.

    o   Use the Internet and social media to increase volunteer recruitment.

    o   Host and attend recruiting events.

    o   Coordinate recruitment needs with appropriate staff.

    o   Analyze, respond to and solve recruitment issues.

     

    B.     Program Activities

    o   Attend all available conference and workshops for the development of programs for volunteers.

    o   Manage orientation of volunteers in conjunction with Mentor Coordinators and Group Home Director.

    o   Attend monthly staff meetings.

    o   Assist in volunteer appreciation events and all program events.

    o   Offer constructive feedback to improvements and advancements for the LifeTies organization.

    o   Some weekends and evenings required for volunteer fairs when in-person fairs resume.

     

    C.     Data Management

    o   Keep necessary records as described by our volunteer management procedures in agency wide database.

    Qualifications

    Manager of Volunteer Services should have the following skills and experience:

    §  A bachelor’s degree is required.

    §  Experience in volunteer recruitment - marketing, public relations, sales, communications or related field is preferred.

    §  Familiari with Mercer County and nearby counties in New Jersey to recruit volunteers..

    §  Experience with social media including facebook advertising, Instagram, Linked-In and Twitter

    §  Exemplary organizational and time management skills,

    §  Capability to work independently, develop strategies and build alliances to reach stated recruitment goals.

    §  Strong written, oral communication and public speaking skills.

    §  The ability to work cooperatively with different type of personalities.

    §  Strong computer skills are necessary.

    §  Willing to work at least one evening  a month for information sessions and occasional weekends for volunteer recruitment fairs or information sessions (majority are currently remote, but when safe to do so, will be in person).

    Additional Information

    Employee Classification:  Part-time (16 hours a week).
