    ** Responsibilities Include:**

    • Medication administration, nursing procedures, and documentation.
    • The nurse must ensure the well-being of our participants
    • Teach and certify AMAP staff, observe AMAP pours monthly and recertify annually
    • Provide monthly MAR’s and ensure AMAP staff accurately pour meds and document the MAR
    • Ensure that all documentation regarding medication is accurate and updated and ensure that medications are given as per the orders of the physician
    • Provide training on the health needs of the individuals annually and as needed due to changes in health status
    • Train staff on choking and aspiration prevention measures and train staff on health and safety protocols
    • Provide triage for illness or injuries in person or via phone and administer first aid as needed
    • Review new admissions for medically pertinent information and for whether or not the agency can provide for their needs within our programs
    • As a CPR instructor, provide training to staff. (RN’s are required to be certified as CPR instructors the same as non RN staff in order to certify staff in CPR. So if she cannot do the compression to teach we can either have a co-instructor teach that component or just not utilize her as an instructor

    Qualifications:

    • Must have a professional R.N. LICENSE from New York State
    • Three plus years’ experience in hospital, E.R or other medical setting
    • Experience working with mentally disabled individuals is a plus
    • Have working knowledge of NYS OPWDD rules and regulations governing the care of consumers residing in and attending programs.
