Light Can Help You is a rapidly growing odd little lighting design firm riding the wave of technological revolution and scientific discovery that is fundamentally changing the way we live. We believe that light can help our friends and neighbors live better lives and we are pioneering new design processes to make better light more accessible and affordable than ever before. Demand for our unique combination of high quality design and streamlined services is extremely strong and our small team of 10+ is currently managing over fifty projects in various stages of design and construction across the continent. We are known for disruptive residential design and have deep expertise in light commercial and hospitality spaces.

We are looking for Lighting Designers who reside in the US to lead multiple projects in various stages of development and work with our support team members to complete all phases of the design process. Lighting Designers are grouped together into small 100%-remote studio teams, each led by a Senior Lighting Designer. Lighting Designers work from anywhere with a good internet connection and minimal distractions. We are currently in ten states and four time zones.

    job qualifications:

Knowing something about architectural lighting design is the baseline; we will provide training in our process. This means your primary experience could be in architectural lighting design, theatrical lighting design, or architecture/interior design.

An understanding of how light works.

Familiarity with architectural drawings and basic construction knowledge are key.

We need folks who write clearly, speak confidently, listen actively, and present brilliantly. We’re going to put you in front of clients, so we’ll need confidence that you can represent us well.

We solve problems with a mix of science and art, so creativity and the ability to master technical skills are both a must. Switching from sketching to spreadsheets is a regular reality.

Anyone who needs constant supervision or support will struggle on our team. Those who are self-motivated, able to self-manage, can set priorities and work remotely are more likely to be happy and successful here.

    career details:

This is an unusual job with an unusual company, more akin to a ground-floor opening in a disruptive startup. We’ve grown 1000% in four years; the job changes pretty regularly.

This creates considerable opportunity for advancement, growth, and input into company development.

We have an open salary structure to eliminate gender pay gaps and other embedded disparities. Our annual salary for full time Lighting Designers in 2023 is $75,816.

We offer a company health care plan and a 401k.

Life/work balance is central to our mission and working more than 40 hours per week rarely happens.

You can live and work anywhere with good internet and no distractions, but we may give slight preference to candidates near our partners in Madison, WI and Dallas, TX, or areas with significant real estate development.

We have a diverse team and welcome all applicants regardless of religion, race, gender, sexuality, disability, or any other way we divide humanity into groups.
