We are looking for a Software Engineer Intern to join our fast-paced startup team for a fully remote 4-week program. About Lighthall Lighthall is VC-backed tech startup based in New York. Lighthall has developed a platform where participants can join project-based learning competitions and interactive classes to get practical experience and qualify for paid internships and entry-level jobs in tech. What You'll Be Doing as a Software Engineer Intern We are looking for a motivated Software Engineer Intern to join our team. As a Software Engineer Intern, you will collaborate with our senior engineers on assignments and help us develop the "NCAA for Tech". Responsibilities * Design and expand the capabilities of our web and mobile apps, built in Amplify and React * Build thoughtful UI and components by contributing to our design system/component library * Build on the foundation of a well tested codebase to ensure it remains robust and scalable as our business rapidly grows * Identify areas for growth and iteration on our application stack and advocate for them on the engineering roadmap Qualifications * We don't expect any prior professional experience * Know or open to learning React * Know or open to learning Amplify * Comfortable working on an agile team and curious about learning new things * Comfortable moving fast and working through ambiguity - we are a small startup and are working on balancing the demands of business growth and platform reliability Benefits * Compensation, determined based on your level of skill and qualifications * Fully remote work environment * Guidance and mentorship from experienced team of senior engineers * Extremely hands-on and project-oriented learning environment * Opportunity to work on a real product, used by tens of thousands of users Selection Process "Tell me about a time when you..." Instead, we expect you to have passion and perseverance and the ability to get stuff done. And we have a unique selection and interviewing process to determine that. Our evaluation process is open to all and a valuable experience for anybody who wants to grow as a working professional. We call it the "Software Engineering Super League". The Software Engineering Super League has 5 Levels of engineering challenges - 2 individual challenges and 3 team challenges. Every participant will build up their portfolio of projects and learn to collaborate in teams of engineers. 'None of the challenges are in any way related to Lighthall's product. All projects will be your intellectual property, which you can add to your portfolio and present to any company when recruiting. One finalist will eventually join Lighthall as a Software Engineer Intern, where they will work on real projects with guidance and training from the Lighthall team.
