We are seeking a Lighting Specialist to lead and grow our lighting efforts across design coordination, fixture sales, controls oversight, and field execution. This role will oversee lighting specifications, quoting, and project prep while actively driving lighting fixture sales and supporting advanced lighting control strategies, including human-centric lighting concepts.
Initially, this position is hands-on and cross-functional—combining design support, sales enablement, project management, and installation coordination—with a clear path toward building and managing a larger lighting team as the business grows.
Key Responsibilities
Lighting Design & Specifications
Oversee all lighting-related project preparation, including fixture specifications, schedules, submittals, and documentation
Support lighting design efforts when applicable, while also preparing specs for projects where full lighting design is not provided
Collaborate with architects, designers, integrators, and internal teams to ensure lighting intent aligns with project goals and budgets
Develop accurate lighting quotes and bills of material, with a strong understanding of lighting fixtures, controls, and system components
Sales Enablement & Fixture Sales
Prepare lighting quotes and specifications to support increased lighting fixture sales
Identify opportunities to “hunt” and expand fixture sales, even on projects without full lighting design scope
Act as a lighting expert during sales conversations, providing technical guidance and value-engineering support
Help position lighting as a strategic component of broader systems and project solutions
Lighting Controls & Human-Centric Lighting
Oversee lighting control systems across projects, with a focus on the Nashville market
Manage control-related elements such as engraving, lighting scenes, zone layouts, and system documentation
Support and promote human-centric lighting strategies, including circadian lighting concepts, scene tuning, and user experience optimization
Partner with programming teams while owning the overall control intent and execution quality
Project Management & Installation Support
Coordinate lighting-related activities across design, procurement, installation, and commissioning
Support or oversee on-site installation, aiming for consistent quality and adherence to specs
Troubleshoot field issues related to fixtures, controls, and system performance
Ensure smooth handoff from sales to installation and closeout
Leadership & Growth
Serve as the central owner of lighting within the organization
Help define processes, standards, and best practices for lighting design, sales, and controls
Contribute to the long-term vision of growing the lighting department, including mentoring and managing future lighting team members
Qualifications
Experience in architectural, residential, or commercial lighting (design, sales, controls, or integration, with Crestron, Lutron, or Control 4 Experience)
Strong understanding of lighting fixtures, specifications, and control systems
Familiarity with lighting control platforms and scene-based programming concepts
Ability to balance technical detail, sales support, and project execution
Strong organizational and communication skills
Customer Service Skills to train end users
Comfortable wearing multiple hats in a growing environment
What Success Looks Like
Smooth, consistent execution of lighting and lighting control across projects
Increased lighting fixture sales through better specs, quotes, and technical support
Strong internal and external confidence in our lighting expertise
A scalable lighting operation that can expand into a dedicated team over time
