We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Telecom Fiber Lineworker to join our telecommunications team. The ideal candidate will have experience and expertise in working with fiber optic cables, performing installations, repairs, and maintenance tasks related to telecom infrastructure. The primary responsibilities of this role include ensuring reliable and efficient fiber optic communication systems by performing tasks such as splicing, testing, and troubleshooting fiber optic lines. The Telecom Fiber Lineworker will work closely with the engineering and operations teams to provide quality connectivity and resolve any network issues that may arise. This position works under the supervision of the Foreman to install and maintain the LS Networks physical Fiber Optic network.
This is a full-time, hourly, non-exempt position, with a starting wage of $18-$28 per hour, depending on experience.
Location: Redmond, OR
Use appropriate hand and power tools to measure, cut, bend, assemble, and erect all components necessary for lifting, moving, and installing plant materials in accordance with the applicable plans, specifications, codes, and industry standards.
Build aerial plant to customer specifications, including framing poles, placing new strands, lashing new cable to bare strands, and lashing cable to existing strands and cable. Installing anchors and down guys, snow shoes, placing FST fiber terminals, grounding & bonding of strand, placement of riser guards, trimming trees, pulling of cable/fiber short distances in conduit, installing pole mounted cabinets, placing ground rods, installing VGR’s on poles, swapping lashers on poles either from a bucket truck or from hooks/ladders.
Dismantles, moves, and removes aerial, underground, building wire, cable-associated equipment,
and hardware.
Connects wires and cables to terminals and attaches/detaches various kinds of hardware to wires, cables, buildings, or poles.
Repairs and maintains fiber system and structures such as broken lashings, replacing or re-sagging aerial strands, pole transfers, down-guys, aerial to underground conversion, make ready VGR’s, and all grounding and bonding functions as per NESC and NEC code.
Deploying and removing various traffic control devices that protect the work area while on a street or roadway.
Participate, adhere to, and support all safety-related policies, processes, and programs.
Understand and respond appropriately to all safety hazards and warning devices (e.g., back-up alarms, smell of smoke or fumes, different-colored warning tags, warning sirens.
Examine/inspect field conditions and identify problems, inaccuracies, and cost-saving measures that arise or may be encountered. Take corrective actions as needed, reporting any issues to your supervisor.
Operates power equipment such as compressors, pumps, blowers, hydraulic diggers, and hydraulic aerial bucket trucks.
Perform all necessary actions to accomplish principal duties and accountabilities.
On-call rotation responding and restoring services for emergency calls, responsible for being on the job at short notice to repair damaged cables until service is restored.
