  • Responsibilities

    This position is responsible for providing leadership and development of the Recreation facility and activities that support the mission, vision, values and goals. This position is responsible for all facets of Recreation Center operations including procedures, program and facility maintenance, facility marketing and promotion, and administration. The Director selects, trains, evaluates, and coordinates Center personnel. Keeps the necessary records, and submits reports as directed. Responsible for facility programming and promotion of Recreation services. This position must work collaboratively and cooperatively with others to insure an exceptional customer experience for all guests. This position must represent the Recreation Center in a knowledgeable and professional manner.

    Essential Duties:

    Hires, trains, schedules, supervises and evaluates assigned staff; provides or coordinates staff training; and works with employees to correct deficiencies.

    Plans and leads the daily operations and staff of the Recreation Center with a strong focus on delivering an exceptional customer experience and services.

    Ability to work 35-40 hours per week, including weekends.

    Experience working with children. Takes a hands-on approach to the implementation of the Center’s children’s programs.

    Promotes and fosters an organizational culture based on superior customer service.

    Responsible for performing high-level decisions on complex matters. Must have an eye for detail, innovation, public relations, Recreation programming and community connectivity.

    Establishes and fosters an open culture of communication and effective working relationships with the Center’s personnel.

    Develops and manages internal operating procedures and audits.

    Analyzes data on customer satisfaction and informs management on relevant issues and strategies in order to ensure an exceptional customer experience.

    Maintains a culture of providing superior customer service and ensures consistency across the Center.

    Responds tactfully and timely to inquiries and problems in person, by email, phone and mail providing helpful information and explanations in line with the Center’s policies and procedures. Professionally handles confrontational or stressful interactions.

    Responsible for operation and maintenance of the facility.

    Responsible for collection of facility fees and charges.

    Coordinates the use of the Recreation Center including scheduling outside events and Birthday Parties.

    Develops and implements marketing plan for promotion of the facilities and promotes Recreation within the community.

    Education and/or Experience:

    A bachelor’s degree in Recreation, Child Development, or a related field is required.

    A minimum of three (3) years of increasingly responsible management and administrative experience in child development and education, personnel leadership and recreation program management.

    Management experience in a Center with similar facilities, functions and programming.

    A combination of education and experience may be considered.

    Licenses, Certifications, and Other Requirements:

    Must possess a valid Driver License and maintain an acceptable driving record.

    Certified in CPR and First Aid.

    Necessary Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

    Thorough knowledge of the philosophies and objectives of practices of the Children’s Programs and the ability to promote, direct and supervise comprehensive recreation programs.

    Strong working knowledge of Recreation programming, operations, sales, guest service and employee relations. Operational expertise in revenue management, sales and marketing and facility /systems.

    Ability to: think strategically; make high level decisions regarding complex issues; interpret and effectively apply applicable laws and policies; establish and maintain professional working relationships with staff and family members.

    Highly skilled in: versatile communication, supervision and choosing appropriate leadership style depending on situation.

    Must be resourceful, self-motivated and possess a sense of urgency.

    Must have exceptional written, verbal and presentation communication skills, and be able to guide and direct individuals and teams toward achieving common goals and financial results
