    Job Description

     

    JOB TITLE: Engineering Intern

    SUMMARY: Develop sustainable improvements through engagement of a team-based improvement approach utilizing continuous improvement tools. Work to support the identification, execution, and implementation of continuous improvement activities throughout the organization.

     

    WAGE TYPE:  Hourly

    FLSA Exemption: Non-Exempt

    • Build relationships across the organization that can be leveraged to implement improvements
    • Coach people in lean methodology and continuous improvement mindset.
    • Facilitate Lincoln Industries problem solving program including working with other departments/areas to complete projects and all corresponding documentation of the program.
    • Manage and drive improvement projects identified by self or others and brought to the continuous improvement team.
    • Support daily needs of the business identified through the Managing for Daily Improvement (MDI) process.
    • Could potentially handle hazardous waste in containerizing, transporting, testing, or other assigned duties.
    • Could potentially come in contact with hazardous chemicals.
    • Environmental responsibility is our commitment to our communities.
    • Proper disposal of waste such as recyclables, standard waste, hazardous waste, etc. is expected
    • Any other tasks as required fulfilling Lincoln Industries' Beliefs and Drivers.

     

    ORGANIZATIONAL STRUCTURE:

    • Reports to: Continuous Improvement Engineer

     

    QUALIFICATIONS:  The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required.  Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be substituted for the expected levels of education and experience required.

     

    Education and/or Experience:

    Expected:  Applicants must have at least a sophomore standing currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Engineering. 

     

    Communication Skills:

    • Must be able to read, write and comprehend the English language.

     

    Other Skills:

    • Must be proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
    • Must have strong technical capabilities.
    • Must be able to communicate the status of current projects and responsibilities clearly and effectively.
    • Candidates must be able to work both independently and in a team oriented environment.
    • Must be a self-starter and able to ask questions to complete assignments on-time and with attention to detail.
    • Candidates must be able to work a minimum of 16 hours per week with a flexible schedule.
    • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.
