Visit us at lpzoo.org JOB DESCRIPTION * JOB TITLE: Grants & Revenue Accountant * DEPARTMENT: Accounting * REPORTS TO: Controller * SUPERVISES: Cash Receipts Coordinator * FLSA STATUS: Exempt * JOB CODE: 0131 GENERAL SUMMARY Responsible for the accounting of all grants including budgeting, reporting, compliance and audit. Responsible for recording and reporting contributions and earned revenue. Ensures that proper cash procedures exist and are being followed. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS * Coordinate grant tracking procedures with Development and Program Staff ensure that adequate records and audit trails are maintained. * Oversees accuracy of grant accounting and reporting of approximately 100 grants varying in size and complexity. * Interpret and apply funding regulations to ensure that all policies and procedures and Federal procurement and contracting requirements are met. This would cover direct grant expenses, matching funds, and subcontracted activities. * Manage and maintain on-site review schedule for all grants to ensure compliance with grant requirements and audit standards. * Manage and maintain a detailed grant schedule that will follow all grants from proposal to completion. * Responsible for recording pledge receivables and contributions and maintaining the accuracy of internal grant and pledge reports. * Monitor and report on grant activity in compliance with OMB Uniform Grant Guidance, and prepare required reports for annual financial audit (if required). * Prepare all necessary grant reports for management, donors, government agencies, etc. * Responsible for development and implementation of cash procedures for all events and concessions. * Manage and oversee periodic control audits to ensure set cash procedures are being followed. * Ensures the accuracy of the safe balance and performs periodic audit counts. * Responsible for recording earned revenue journal entries and reconciliations. * Assist with other accounting duties as needed. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES * Comprehensive knowledge of manual and automated accounting systems; Microsoft Dynamics GP, IBM Cognos, Adaptive Planning and Raisers Edge preferred * Strong computer desktop skills required. Advanced Microsoft Excel skills (i.e.,macros, pivot tables, etc.) preferred * Well-developed problem solving and financial analysis capabilities * Must be detail oriented, capable of handling multiple tasks, and be able to work independently and as part of a team * Strong communication skills, written and verbal * Ability to work under tight schedules, prioritize effectively and meet deadlines * Well-developed interpersonal skills. Ability to get along well with diverse personalities tactful, mature, flexible * Ability to interact courteously and respectfully with supervisors, fellow employees, volunteers, zoo visitors and general public EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS * Bachelors degree in Finance, Accounting, or Business Administration with a specialization in Accounting, required. EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS * A minimum of three years of nonprofit accounting experience gained through increasingly responsible positions. Grant compliance experience in a non profit environment preferred. Familiarity with OMB Uniform Grant Guidance, as well as experience with Single audit preferred. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS * Ability to work at computer for long periods of time * Ability to work in open office environment * Ability to traverse zoo grounds ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS * Available to work special events that may occur outside of regular work schedule, including evenings, weekends or holidays, as assigned.
