Job description

We are looking for line cooks to prepare food to the exact chef’s specifications and to set up stations for the menu. Line cook duties will consist of assisting the Kitchen Manager with their daily tasks. The successful candidate will play a key role in contributing to our customer satisfaction and acquisition goals.

Responsibilities

Product Knowledge

• Ability to follow standardized recipes.
• Knowledge of weights, volume and measurements.
• Ensure all food preparation is high quality, done in a timely manner, and follow menu descriptions.
• Follow all rotation procedures, code dates from product received and prepare food according to health department guidelines.
• Set up and stocking stations with all necessary supplies
• Prepare food for service (e.g. chopping vegetables, butchering meat, or preparing sauces)
• Cook menu items in cooperation with the rest of the kitchen staff
• Stock inventory appropriately
• Answer, report and follow executive or sous chef’s instructions

Cleaning Responsibilities

• Responsible for all back of house cleaning with regard to health codes and set guidelines.
• Clean up station and take care of leftover food
• Comply with nutrition and sanitation regulations and safety standards
• Maintain a positive and professional approach with coworkers and customers

Skills

• Proven cooking experience, including experience as a line chef, restaurant cook or prep cook
• Excellent understanding of various cooking methods, ingredients, equipment and procedures
• Proper knowledge of all equipment use, including knife skills, care and cleaning of slicers, fryers as well as electrical and gas appliances with extreme heat.
• Accuracy and speed in executing assigned tasks
• Familiar with industry’s best practices

Physical Requirements

• Ability to sustain prolonged standing, stooping, bending, and reaching, repetitively and continuously for up to 8 hours.
• Job duties require physical exertion to manually move, lift, carry, and pull heavy objects up to 50 pounds. Must be able to kneel, bend at the waist, and climb ladders.
• This position requires employees to be able to read and write in English as well as multi-task in a fast past, loud and crowded environment.
