Ponzu Sushi is a Japanese restaurant in downtown Palm Springs serving sushi, sashimi, and a full menu of hot kitchen dishes. We are currently hiring an experienced, dependable Line Cook to join our kitchen team.
We are looking for someone who works clean, stays organized, communicates well, and can maintain consistency during busy service. The ideal candidate takes pride in their work, is receptive to feedback, and understands that a successful kitchen depends on the entire team working together.
Responsibilities
Prepare and execute menu items according to established recipes, portions, and presentation standards
Set up and maintain a clean, organized, and fully stocked station
Complete assigned prep accurately and efficiently
Maintain consistency and attention to detail throughout service
Communicate effectively with other cooks, chefs, sushi staff, and FOH team members
Assist other stations and team members as needed
Follow proper food handling, sanitation, storage, cooling, and labeling procedures
Maintain cleanliness of work areas, equipment, and shared kitchen spaces
Complete opening and closing duties as assigned
Follow direction from kitchen leadership and respond professionally to coaching and feedback
Qualifications
Previous line cook or professional kitchen experience preferred
Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
Strong organization and time-management skills
Reliable attendance and punctuality
Ability to follow recipes, procedures, and established kitchen standards
Good communication skills and a team-oriented attitude
Strong attention to cleanliness and food safety
Experience with Japanese cuisine is helpful but not required
Schedule
Full-time position, approximately 40 hours per week
Must have availability for evenings, weekends, and holidays
Specific schedule will be discussed during the interview process
Compensation
Competitive hourly pay based on experience

Requirements
Riverside County Food Handler Certificate required prior to starting
ServSafe certification preferred
Must be able to perform the physical duties associated with a professional kitchen position
