    Job Description: Prep Cook

    Position Overview:

    We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Prep Cook to join our kitchen team. The Prep Cook plays a critical role in ensuring the kitchen operates efficiently by preparing ingredients, maintaining a clean and organized workspace, and assisting the culinary team in delivering exceptional dishes. This position is ideal for someone passionate about food and eager to contribute to a fast-paced and dynamic pub/restaurant environment.

    Key Responsibilities:

    Ingredient Preparation: Wash, peel, chop, slice, dice, and measure ingredients according to recipes and specifications.

    Stocking and Organization: Maintain proper stock levels for ingredients, ensuring everything is fresh and labeled appropriately.

    Station Setup: Assist in setting up and stocking workstations for line cooks, ensuring all necessary items are prepared and within reach.

    Recipe Adherence: Follow standardized recipes and portioning guidelines to maintain consistency and quality.

    Equipment Use: Operate kitchen tools such as knives, peelers, and food processors safely and efficiently.

    Cleanliness and Sanitation: Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary work environment, following health and safety guidelines.

    Waste Management: Minimize food waste by handling ingredients responsibly and properly storing unused items.

    Team Support: Assist line cooks, chefs, and other team members as needed during service.

    Inventory Management: Report shortages or quality issues with ingredients to the chef or kitchen manager.

    Qualifications:

    Previous experience as a prep cook or in a similar kitchen role is preferred but not required.

    Basic understanding of food preparation techniques and kitchen safety standards.

    Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.

    Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

    Ability to follow directions and work as part of a team.

    Must be able to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 pounds.
