Position Summary
As a Line Cook, you'll prepare and cook a variety of menu items including burgers, sandwiches, appetizers, salads, steaks, and other signature dishes while maintaining The Sandbox's high standards for quality, consistency, cleanliness, and food safety. You'll work alongside our kitchen team to ensure every guest receives an outstanding dining experience.
Responsibilities
Prepare and cook menu items according to recipes and presentation standards.
Set up and stock your station before each shift.
Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary workstation throughout service.
Follow all food safety, sanitation, and health department guidelines.
Work efficiently during high-volume service while maintaining food quality.
Communicate effectively with kitchen staff to ensure timely ticket completion.
Monitor inventory levels and notify kitchen leadership of low-stock items.
Practice proper food storage, labeling, rotation, and portion control.
Minimize food waste and help maintain cost control standards.
Assist with prep work, cleaning, and closing duties as assigned.
Adapt to menu changes, daily specials, and guest requests.
Support and assist with training new team members when needed.
Help create a positive, team-oriented kitchen culture.
Qualifications
Previous experience as a Line Cook or in a high-volume restaurant kitchen preferred.
Strong understanding of cooking techniques, kitchen equipment, and food preparation.
Ability to work quickly and efficiently under pressure.
Excellent knife skills and attention to detail.
Commitment to producing consistent, high-quality food.
Strong communication and teamwork skills.
Excellent organizational and time management abilities.
Knowledge of food safety and sanitation procedures.
Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
Positive attitude with a willingness to learn and improve.
Ability to lift up to 40 pounds.
Reliable transportation.
Availability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Preferred Qualifications
Two or more years of kitchen experience.
ServSafe Food Handler or Food Manager Certification (preferred but not required).
Experience in a sports bar, casual dining, or entertainment venue.
Passion for hospitality and creating memorable guest experiences.
