Our restaurant is busy, and we need a competent and experienced line cook who can ensure that our meals are made precisely to guest orders while still following our standard recipes consistently. To work a variety of stations on any given shift, our line cook must be adept in poaching, braising, roasting, grilling, sautéing, and frying. You need to be a team player who can effectively communicate with other kitchen staff to keep things running efficiently. Responsibilities: • Guarantee that quality food is supplied, by adhering to specified storage and waste control requirements for meats, vegetables, fruits, and dairy products • Demonstrate professional and pleasant demeanor when interacting with visitors, vendors, and associates • Cook food orders at stations by following established recipes and presentation standards for grilling, broiling, and sautéing menu items • Set up cooking stations and fill them with all of the essential preparation items for a shift • Maintain work stations, including all countertops, utensils, equipment, and refrigeration in a clean and sanitary condition per health and safety regulations • Portion and preparation of food items, including fish, beef, chicken, pork, etc., as prescribed by company specifications and recipes • Preparation of sauces and/or garnishes as required by company specifications related to the specific menu item • Performs related work as assigned and as circumstances require • Be able to interact with vendors and customers when needed • Keep all workstations, counters, equipment, and other kitchen areas clean and sanitary according to health and safety guidelines • Guarantee that food quality is adhered to, properly stored food and items, while meeting waste control requirements • Follow established recipes and prepare foods to presentation standards Qualifications: • Must be able to meet all safety and sanitation requirements of kitchen equipment and food storage • We prefer some experience working in the food service industry • Must be a hard worker with high attention to detail and have a strong work ethic • Educational requirements include a high school diploma or equivalent GED certificate • Display excellent communication and interpersonal skills with customers and coworkers Required Skills/Abilities: • Possesses a strong work ethic • Ability to produce an excellent culinary and restaurant experience for patrons • Excellent time management, scheduling, managerial, and organizational skills • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to work well with a variety of personalities and under pressure Education and Experience: • Experience in food preparation work is preferred • Graduation from a standard senior high school or equivalent is preferred • Must meet the minimum age requirement as prescribed by law • Possess or willing to obtain a valid Food Handler Certificate Physical Requirements: • Prolonged periods of standing, preparing, and cooking food • Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds at times • Must be able to work in a kitchen environment that may involve exposure to extreme heat or cold Compensation: $17 - $19 hourly
