    Job Description

Get in touch if you’re a fast, nimble Line Producer who thrives in the control room, knows how to build a great rundown, and loves collaborating with a team. This is a role for someone who stays cool under pressure, moves quickly with breaking news, and thinks several blocks ahead. We’re looking for a strong editorial mind and a sharp production hand. Someone who understands the rhythm of live TV and knows how to keep the show moving with precision and energy.

This Line Producer position supports multiple shows across the NBC News NOW platform, from breaking news blocks to signature daily programming. You’ll be part of a dynamic team that works across formats and dayparts, so flexibility, speed, and teamwork are key.

    Responsibilities:

    • Work closely with senior producers and executive producers to build, refine, and execute daily rundowns across several NBC News NOW shows
    • Lead the control room during live broadcasts — making quick editorial decisions and adjusting rundowns as breaking news develops
    • Collaborate with show directors to block and time live programming
    • Approve and copy edit scripts with an eye for tone, accuracy, and editorial standards
    • Pitch compelling news stories and fresh, original segment ideas
    • Work with producers to identify the strongest elements for every block, from video and graphics to sound and live guests
    • Write headlines, teases, and scroll graphics that drive viewer engagement
    • Generate fresh copy in real time when news is moving fast
    • Communicate effectively with talent, guests, and correspondents
    • Move seamlessly between shows and teams — and embrace a fast-paced, always-changing news cycle
  • Qualifications

    Qualifications

    • 5+ years of experience working in broadcast, cable, or live-streaming news
    • Minimum 3 years on a live, daily show
    • At least 1 year as a line producer, ideally with breaking news experience
    • Strong editorial judgment and deep understanding of journalistic standards
    • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
    • Willing and able to work in person five days a week in New York, NY

    Desired Characteristics:

    • Strong journalist with excellent control room instincts
    • Editorially sharp and visually creative — you care about headlines, graphics, and clean visual storytelling
    • Energized by live breaking news and able to jump in anytime — nights, weekends, holidays
    • Steady under pressure and decisive in a fast-paced control room
    • Enjoys working collaboratively across multiple teams and formats

    Additional Requirements:

    • Flexible schedule — this role includes early mornings, evenings, and occasional weekends as needed
