We are seeking Lingala Over-the-Phone Interpreters (OPI) to support our USCIS contract. Lingala, spoken widely in the Democratic Republic of Congo, Republic of Congo, and parts of Central Africa, is a rare African language often required in asylum and immigration proceedings.

Responsibilities

Provide real-time Lingala ↔ English telephonic interpretation for USCIS interviews, hearings, and official proceedings.

Interpret with accuracy, impartiality, and professionalism in immigration, legal, and administrative contexts.

Maintain confidentiality under USCIS/DHS interpreter standards.

Handle both scheduled and urgent/surge assignments.

Participate in training, compliance refreshers, and quality assurance reviews.

Qualifications

Native or near-native fluency in Lingala and English.

2+ years of professional interpreting experience (immigration, asylum, medical, community, or government preferred).

Knowledge of interpreter ethics, confidentiality, and cultural awareness.

Strong telephone communication skills; ability to remain accurate under pressure.

Must be a U.S. Citizen or permanent resident eligible for Tier 3/Tier 5 federal clearance.
