    PROCESS ENGINEER - INDUSTRIAL ENVIRONMENT/TROUBLESHOOTING SKILLS REQUIRED  -  CHARLOTTE, NC 

     JOB SUMMARY 

    Plans, directs, and coordinates manufacturing processes in industrial plant: Develops, evaluates, and improves manufacturing methods, utilizing knowledge of product design, materials and parts, fabrication processes, tooling and production equipment capabilities, assembly methods, and quality control standards. Plan, design, arrange, change, optimize, and supervise a manufacturing process. Create, document, develop, and implement procedures required to assemble, test, process, and manufacture products of the company. ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES  

    • Reacts immediately to safety issues as they arise.  Follows all environmental and safety policies and procedures.
    • Promotes continuous improvement in environmental and safety issues by ensuring that equipment is designed, modified or repaired to maintain and improve safety and environmental performance.
    • Provides technical support for Safety activities including ergonomics at the work stations.
    • Ensures that equipment is capable of producing parts to specification.
    • Provides project leadership on continuous improvement ideas:
      • Equipment and equipment design
      • Process simplification and improvement
      • Project Coordination between, technical, support and financial groups
      • Preventative and Predictive maintenance
      • Lead role on quality for control plans & PMEA's
      • Major role in quality teams implementation of corrective actions
    • Analyzes and plans work force utilization, space requirements, and workflow, and designs layout of equipment and workspace for maximum efficiency.
    • Writes, submits, and manages Capital/Expense Projects, including analysis for justification.
    • Provides training and work instructions on new equipment and process changes.
    • Coordinates ECAP's and Process and Routing Changes.
    • Keeps updated on the latest engineering techniques that apply to processes used, and communicates information to others.
    • Develops cost reduction ideas.
    • Implements lean initiatives; 5-S, Kaizen, Standard Work Instructions, and TPS.
    • Confers with vendors to determine product specifications and arrange for purchase of equipment, materials, or parts, and evaluates products according to specifications and quality standards.
    • Estimates production times, staffing requirements, and related costs to provide information for management decisions.
    • Confers with management, engineering, and other staff regarding manufacturing capabilities, production schedules, and other considerations to facilitate production processes.
    • Applies statistical methods to estimate future manufacturing requirements and potential.
    • Performs any other duties so assigned.
    • Provides support as requested by Supervisor.

    QUALIFICATIONS   Education & Experience

    • Bachelor degree in engineering related field combined with manufacturing experience with both manual and automated processes
    • Knowledge of Computer Hardware / general software and networking.
    • Progression of Successful Project Management Completions

      Mathematical Skills

    • Engineering level math skills required to perform engineering calculations pertaining to machine design and mechanical measurements.
    • Ability to perform statistical analysis.
    • PLC software and Ladder Logic experience

    Reasoning & Decision Making Ability:

    • Strong mechanical aptitude and analytical skills.
    • Ability to evaluate processes, equipment capability and design intentions.
    • Ability to solve difficult technical problems with information provided or developed through analysis.
