    Job Description

    As a Marketing and Communications Manager at The Linux Foundation, you will be pivotal in representing one of our most important and fastest-growing foundation brands: the Open Source Security Foundation (OpenSSF). OpenSSF serves at the heart of securing coding initiatives and software supply chain security. Your role will be to engage and manage communication with our many corporate and developer community members. You will build out a core set of internal and external content to support this, including case studies, testimonials, press releases, web and email copy, social media content, etc. You will be a key liaison for member opportunities and concerns, while also supporting our core go-to-community activities. You will also play a key role in establishing clear messaging, targeted to the foundation’s diverse stakeholder base - all while maintaining strong brand awareness.

    This position is for an individual contributor, with no direct reports.

    RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Develop clear and engaging content that is consistent with the foundation’s brand image and addresses both business goals and community needs.

    • Content including press releases, newsletter, blogs, and, social media posts

    • Develop PR campaigns and media relations strategies to increase earned media coverage

    • Organize PR events (e.g. open days, press conferences) and serve as the Foundation’s central PR contact

    • Maintain relationships with media outlets; be the main point of contact with media facilitate interviews and story support from our executive team

    • Monitor, track and analyze our earned media coverage and develop PR strategies to strengthen our brand presence in industry wide initiatives

    • Analyze community engagement and create strategic plans to optimize SEO/SEM for each Foundation’s projects.

    • Work with our central demand gen organization to further optimize and reach audiences through paid and owned media.

    • Plan and organize attendance for OpenSSF events

    • Manage social media channels including LinkedIn, Facebook, Twitter, and blogs

  • Qualifications

    Qualifications

    • 7+ years of marketing experience in B2B business, preferably in open source or software businesses

    • Previous relationships with media publications and outlets

    • Experience managing communication to B2B communities related to open source security and application security is not required, but would certainly differentiate you as a candidate.

    • Previous hands-on experience in social media management and SEO/SEM strategies.

    • Ability to interface at all levels maintaining strong working relationships across cross-functional teams.
