Information Systems Solutions (ISS) is looking for Linux System Administrator to support the JS J7 Joint Training DevSecOps pipeline core infrastructure and data center in Suffolk, VA. The selected candidate will be responsible for supporting the Deputy Directorate, Joint Training (DDJT).
This role is 100% onsite.

Key Responsibilities
- Lead the design, implementation, and optimization of Linux-based infrastructure supporting DoD training and simulation environments.
- Oversee DevSecOps pipelines, ensuring secure, automated, and scalable deployments for mission-critical applications.
- Maintain and improve data center infrastructure, ensuring high availability, redundancy, and disaster recovery capabilities.
- Implement DoD cybersecurity best practices, including STIG hardening, RMF compliance, and vulnerability remediation.
- Work closely with senior military leadership, contractors, and engineering teams to align IT infrastructure with mission objectives.
- Provide technical mentorship to junior engineers and system administrators, fostering a culture of excellence and continuous learning.
- Support Linux system administration, including patching, performance tuning, scripting (Bash/Python), and automation with Ansible/Terraform.
- Conduct risk assessments, penetration testing, and security audits to ensure compliance with DoD regulations.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in IT, Computer Science, or related field (or 8+ years of relevant experience in lieu of degree).
- 8+ years of experience in Linux-based enterprise infrastructure and data center operations.
- 5+ years of experience with DoD major systems or programs (preferably supporting Joint Training, JS J7, or similar military environments).
- Strong experience in Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL), CentOS, or Ubuntu in secure environments.
- Expertise in DevSecOps methodologies, including CI/CD automation, containerization (Docker/Kubernetes), and infrastructure as code (IaC).
- Proficiency with cybersecurity frameworks, including DoD STIGs, RMF, and NIST 800-53.
- Scripting and automation skills (Bash, Python, Ansible, Terraform) to enhance system efficiency and security.
- Experience with networking concepts, firewalls, VPNs, and secure communications within DoD environments.
Preferred Qualifications
- RHCSA or RHCDS (Red Hat Certified Data Center Specialist) certification.
- Experience working in Joint Training or military simulation environments.
- Hands-on experience with VMware in enterprise settings.
- Familiarity with classified and unclassified DoD networks.
- Background in software-defined networking (SDN) and hybrid cloud integration
