    Our Automotive Division, Lisi Automotive Hi Vol, is currently seeking a talented Secondary Equipment Operator to join our team in Livonia, MI. This is an exciting opportunity to be a part of a world-class manufacturing company and advance your career.

    About the Role:

    We are looking for a Secondary Equipment Operator who will be responsible for performing various secondary or finishing production steps. This includes working with CNC Machined parts and conducting quality checks throughout the process.

    The successful candidate will operate different machines in the Secondary Operations department and visually inspect parts to ensure that they meet our customers' requirements of zero defects. Flexibility in adjusting to customer demands is essential for this role.

    The equipment in this classification includes RADs, Vision sorting machines, CNCs, and Threaders (In-Line and non In-Line). For higher-grade positions, additional responsibilities may include First Piece Inspection, minor machine adjustments, and assisting with setups.

    Tasks that all Operators should be able to perform include Manual Sort, Hi-Lo, Parts Washer, and Scale. Additional tasks may include Packing, Floor Scrubber, and Bar Coding.

    Responsibilities:

    The essential duties and responsibilities of the Secondary Equipment Operator position include, but are not limited to, the following:

    • Clock in labor tracking program using basic computer skills.
    • Follow verbal and written work instructions and procedures specific to job orders (i.e. routers, travelers).
    • Operate equipment or perform processes using efficient procedures to meet production standards.
    • Use necessary measuring tools to ensure quality standards are met and perform quality checks.
    • Maintain traceability of product by recording written data to work order.
    • Safely move product and long tools through work cell by hand or carts.
    • Communicate with team members on daily material process flow, safety, and continuous improvement projects.
    • Seek assistance from lead persons to make necessary adjustments to machinery and equipment.
    • Participate in Continuous Improvement Team.
    • Follow safety policies and procedures, including OSHA requirements and PPE requirements.
    • Maintain a clean, safe work area through basic shop housekeeping.
    • Perform other duties as assigned.

    Qualifications:

    To be successful in this role, the ideal candidate must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The following qualifications are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required:

    • One year certificate from college or technical school; or three to six months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
    • Proficiency in using quality gages such as micrometers and calipers, as well as reading blueprints.
    • Valid hi-lo license or the ability to obtain one.
    • Previous experience operating threaders is helpful.

    Language Skills:

    The Secondary Equipment Operator should have the ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, communicate effectively with team members and management, and write basic correspondence.

    Mathematical Skills:

    Basic math skills, including the ability to use gages such as micrometers, calipers, and various sized plug gages, are required.

    Reasoning Ability:

    The ideal candidate should be able to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed instructions and handle problems in standardized situations.

    Physical Demands:

    The physical demands of this job include standing and walking frequently, using hands to handle objects, and reaching with hands and arms. The employee may occasionally be required to sit, bend, stoop, kneel, or crouch. The ability to lift up to 50 pounds is necessary, with regular lifting of 25-30 pounds. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

    Work Environment:

    The work environment for the Secondary Equipment Operator includes working near moving mechanical parts. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud. Personal protective equipment provided by the company must be worn at all times.
