Compensation: starting pay rate between $65,000-75,000 per year (commensurate with experience). This position is benefits-eligible, and will accrue Paid Time Off (PTO) and be eligible for paid holidays.
Literacy Minnesota is a complex organization, with a wide range of program offerings and diverse funding sources, including state, federal, local government, corporate, and foundation funding. This role is a key member of the Finance Team, responsible providing accurate and timely revenue stream data processing.
Reporting to the Finance Director, the Earned Revenue Staff Accountant is responsible for all aspects of accounts receivable and philanthropic revenue recording. This includes but is not limited to generating client invoices and statements, performing various general ledger and subsidiary reconciliations, performing an analysis of aged client receivables and maintaining the A/R Bad Debt reserve. In addition, the Earned Revenue Staff Accountant is responsible for recording and reconciling philanthropic donations from Salesforce to Sage Intacct General Ledger data, managing deferred revenue and related recognition on a periodic basis. This role will also perform other general accounting tasks, including other department functions serving as a backup when needed.
Responsibilities
- Program Client Invoicing
* Generate program client invoices and earned revenue accruals from hours and project cost reports.
* Maintain an understanding of project contractual billing terms by client.
* Maintain client profiles, electronic records and files.
* Enter client invoices in client portals when required.
* Assist Project and Program Managers with Billing process, including use of billing tool.
* Assist in gathering supporting documentation for submission with client invoicing.
- Record Revenue Payments
- Record receipt of client payments (via check, EFT) of invoices in FE.
- Review and reconcile individual donations (via check, EFT), routing deposit information to the appropriate team for processing in RE.
- Recognize deferred revenue.
- Accounts Receivable/Revenue Analysis
* Reconcile, roll forward, and analyze client A/R and earned revenue accounts.
* Maintain A/R aging, review with Accounting Manager/VP Finance monthly.
* Send monthly client statements of outstanding invoices to clients.
* Follow up on aged receivables, phoning and/or emailing clients with balances greater than 30 days.
* Provide information to Accounting Manager and VP Finance monthly for accounts outstanding over 60 days.
* Assist the Finance Director and Project and Program Managers to determine appropriate A/R reserve on a quarterly basis.

- Reconcile general ledger accounts as assigned
- Cross train with other staff members of the team (accounts payable, grant accounting) to provide coverage when needed

** Required Qualifications**
- Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance, or equivalent experience required.
- Minimum two years of accounting experience as a staff accountant or similar role.
- Intermediate to advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel, including creating and using pivot tables.
- Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Outlook and Teams experience required.
- Ability to analyze financial data and present the results in a clear and concise manner.
- Manages work independently, with a high degree of accuracy.
- Excellent communication skills required.

Preferred Qualifications
- Non-profit experience.
- Experience using Sage Intacct software preferred.
