Litigation Associate Attorney (ERISA) – Am Law 100 Firm

Locations: Washington, D.C., Charlotte, Chicago, Houston, Los Angeles, New York, Palo Alto, Salt Lake City, San Francisco
Experience Level: Midlevel (JD 2019-2021)

About the Role

Direct Counsel is seeking a Litigation Associate with ERISA experience to join a prestigious Am Law 100 firm. This role is open to candidates in any of the firm’s U.S. offices , including Washington, D.C., Charlotte, Chicago, Houston, Los Angeles, New York, Palo Alto, Salt Lake City, and San Francisco.

The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in ERISA litigation , including drafting briefs and court filings, conducting case law research, handling discovery, and participating in depositions. Strong writing skills and clerkship experience from peer firms are preferred.

Key Responsibilities

• Represent clients in ERISA-related litigation matters , including fiduciary duty disputes and benefits claims.
• Draft briefs, pleadings, and other court filings.
• Conduct case law research and develop legal strategies.
• Handle all forms of discovery , including preparing for and participating in depositions.
• Work collaboratively with a national litigation team on high-stakes ERISA disputes.

Qualifications

• Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school ( Class of 2019 to 2021 ).
• Extensive ERISA litigation experience at a law firm or relevant government agency.
• Strong legal writing, research, and advocacy skills.
• Clerkship experience and prior work at a peer firm preferred.

Compensation & Benefits

• Salary range: $310,000 – $390,000 (for JD classes 2019–2021). Actual salary may vary based on experience and qualifications.
