    Hermance Law is seeking an experienced Litigation Attorney with a strong background in California probate and trust administration litigation to join our team on a flexible basis. This role is ideal for a highly skilled litigator who values flexibility, can work independently, and has proven experience handling contested probate and trust matters from start to finish—including mediation and trial work. You must be licensed to practice law in California and have direct experience in probate and trust litigation. A California State Bar Certified Specialist in Estate Planning, Trust & Probate Law is strongly preferred. This is a virtual position, with hours ranging from 0–10 per week initially, and the potential for more as our contested caseload grows. Responsibilities: • Manage contested probate and trust administration cases from intake to resolution • Develop litigation strategy and oversee all case phases, including discovery, mediation, and trial • Draft and review pleadings, motions, discovery, and settlement agreements • Conduct depositions, attend hearings, mediations, and trials (primarily virtual; some in-person appearances possible) • Advise clients and provide clear, compassionate guidance throughout the litigation process • Work collaboratively with paralegals and support staff to ensure efficient case progression • Ensure compliance with all court rules, deadlines, and procedural requirements Qualifications: • Active license to practice law in California • Minimum 5 years of probate and trust litigation experience in California • Mediation and trial experience required • Strong knowledge of California Probate Code, litigation procedures, and local court rules • Certified Specialist in Estate Planning, Trust & Probate Law (preferred) • Excellent legal writing, oral advocacy, and negotiation skills • Ability to work independently, manage deadlines, and take ownership of cases • Proficient with Clio or similar case management software Compensation: $60 - $80 hourly
