    • Our client, a well-established and growing real estate management organization, is seeking a Litigation Counsel to join their legal department. This role is ideal for a motivated attorney with strong experience in general liability and premises claims. The Litigation Counsel will take a hands-on role in managing claims from investigation through resolution, working directly with outside counsel, internal claims adjusters, and senior leadership.
    • As Litigation Counsel, you will oversee pre-suit claim investigations and manage litigation from inception to conclusion. This includes gathering evidence, directly managing internal claim adjusters and outside counsel, and working with the Risk Manager on our contractual risk management program. The Litigation Counsel will also respond to inquiries regarding insurance and indemnification provisions and provide advice on third-party vendor contracts.
    • This is a full-time, on-site role based in Buffalo, NY or Sarasota, FL.

    Responsibilities:

    • Advise internal teams on risk, indemnity, and insurance contract terms.
    • Lead internal adjusters handling pre-litigation bodily injury and property damage claims.
    • Direct litigation strategy across multiple jurisdictions; manage outside counsel.
    • Review pleadings, prep witnesses, and represent the company in mediations.
    • Evaluate risk transfer opportunities and draft tender letters.
    • Support compliance, legal holds, and e-discovery efforts.

    Qualifications:

    • JD from an ABA-accredited law school.
    • Active bar admission in good standing.
    • 6+ years of experience in general liability/bodily injury litigation, either in a law firm or in-house.
    • Familiarity with contractual indemnity and general ins. coverage issues.
    • Experience with NY Labor Law (e.g., Section 240) is a plus.
    • Must be able to travel occasionally as needed.

    Compensation:

    • Base salary up to 180k/year plus bonus.
