Downs & Stanford has an immediate opening for a detail-oriented and organized Litigation Legal Assistant to join our legal team in our Dallas location. The ideal candidate will support our litigation attorneys by managing various administrative tasks, ensuring efficient operations. Candidates will be expected to immediately begin working with a variety of cases of all levels of complexity in a fast-paced, high demand environment. Salary is commensurate with experience.
- Manage and maintain case files, both electronic and paper, ensuring all documentation is up-to-date and easily accessible.
- Maintain calendars and docket / maintain and follow-up on deadlines
- Draft documents including reports and court filings
- Communicate with clients, claims adjusters, opposing counsel, courts, experts
- Schedule depositions, hearings and mediations
- Draft, proofread, and edit legal documents, correspondence, and reports with a high degree of accuracy. Heavy transcription is required.
- Perform administrative duties such as answering phones, forwarding messages, and handling e-mail.
Qualifications:
- Experience with eFiling and PACER
- Demonstrates a high degree of commitment, honesty and integrity in all aspects
- Minimum of 2-3 years of litigation legal experience
- Able to work with a team in a collaborative environment or independently
- Critical thinking that displays initiative and adaptability
- Self-motivated, organized, detail oriented, efficient, hard-working
- Strong communication skills, professional, prompt, excellent attendance
- Typing 50+ WPM with transcription experience
- Proficient with Windows and Microsoft Office 2010-2016, including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
- Knowledgeable of Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox and Google Chrome web browsers, PDF compatible software, and related productivity applications
