3+ Years of Experience Are you passionate about helping people? Would you like to make clients feel powerful after life-altering injuries or losses? Herman & Wells is a litigation-focused law firm specializing in representing plaintiffs in personal injury and first-party insurance cases. We take away clients’ fear and stress by explaining and acting upon each part of a case, and touching base with each client every 30 days. Our firm proactively works up all our cases and takes cases to trial. We don't like wearing suits (unless we have to); we do like to be called by our first names. We have a great culture of great people. As a paralegal working on insurance and personal injury cases here, you will be fighting for clients' rights alongside the attorney. You will not only be helping their cases, but you will be talking with clients and helping to reduce their stress that comes with the legal process. Initially, all paralegals begin by working in the office where it’s easy to ask questions, talk to colleagues, and connect as a team. After completing your probation period and demonstrating consistent performance, you’ll have the opportunity to work from home a few days a week, as long as your work continues to meet our standards. Responsibilities: • Scheduling and setting depositions, mediations, and hearings. • Filing and serving pleadings in both State and Federal Court. • Communicating with clients. • Helping with discovery. • Calendaring deadlines. • Conducting regular file reviews with the attorney to go over the status and next steps. Qualifications: • Mastery of using Florida’s e-filing portal and familiarity with using JAWS and filing in Federal Court. • Mastery of office technology like Word, Excel, Outlook, and dealing with and working in PDF files. • Proficiency in proofreading and editing legal documents. • Experience handling litigated matters. • Ability and willingness to clearly communicate with clients, other law firms, and others via phone and email. • We are a paperless office that uses technology to handle our cases better, and the willingness and ability to learn and adapt to new technology are required. • Proven experience working in a law office or similar legal environment. • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail. • Upbeat disposition. Compensation: $45,000 - $57,000 yearly
