Job Description
Active medical malpractice and general liability litigation defense law firm is hiring an experienced Paralegal to join our team. Preference will be given to candidates with previous experience as a paralegal, legal assistant or in another similar capacity in the medical malpractice defense space. We will also consider candidates with an A.B.A. approved paralegal certificate.
The ideal candidate will:
• Have prior litigation experience (2+ years) (preferably medical malpractice and/or general liability defense)
• Knowledge of MS Office (including Excel), Adobe, and cloud-based technology, such as NetDocs and ActionStep or the equivalent
• Excellent interpersonal communication and case management skills
• Be detail oriented, punctual, responsible and a team player
• Possess the ability to multi-task and be proactive in a fast-paced office environment
Paralegal responsibilities may include the following tasks:
• Manage new matter intake and case openings
• Process authorizations to obtain medical records from health care providers
• Assist in NYSEF e-filing of pleadings, motions and exhibits
• Assist in preparing cases for trial
• Management of documents in a paperless cloud-based file management system
