Are you a compassionate, dependable, and experienced caregiver looking for a rewarding opportunity to make a difference? Home Helpers of Will and DuPage County is currently hiring Live-In caregivers to provide non-medical in-home care for an adult male with intellectual disabilities in the Orland Park area. In this role, you will help enrich the client’s life by providing companionship, maintaining independence, and providing comfort in the home. This is a meaningful opportunity for someone who enjoys mentoring, teaching, and encouraging progress through supportive, one-on-one care.

We are currently seeking a patient and reliable Live-In Caregiver or Direct Support Professional (DSP) to assist an adult male with intellectual disabilities from Sunday through Wednesday. This Live-In position involves modeling and teaching our client the life skills needed for a self-directed life to help him remain independent, safe, and comfortable at home.

    Responsibilities:

Teaching him to manage his own personal care (bathing, grooming, dressing, toileting).

Accompanying him to community outings and social gatherings while coaching him to use public transportation or GPS.

Encouraging independence while providing appropriate support.

Teaching how to meal prep meals safely, manage household chores, and maintain the client's own personal hygiene.

Teaching him to recognize "Safe vs. Unsafe" people, set his own boundaries, and stay safe online.

Instructing him on how to identify currency, use an ATM, and understand "Needs vs. Wants" when spending his own money.

    Ideal Candidate:

    Prior DSP experience (preferred)

Experience caring for people with physical or mental disabilities (preferred).

Ability to follow care plans and communicate with the care team.

Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.

Enjoys being active and participating in outings like movies, dining out, and social activities.

Comfortable with providing hands-on personal care.
