    Overview:
A warm, active family in Closter, NJ is looking for a full-time live-in nanny to care for their two children, ages 4 and 8. Both children are in school, so this is a split-shift role. Mornings are for getting the kids up, fed and to school. Afternoons cover pickup, activities, homework, dinner and bedtime. The parents set clear expectations and count on the nanny to run the day with confidence. One of the children has ADHD and anxiety, so the family is looking for someone patient, steady and consistent who knows how to give structure and reassurance. The ideal candidate is energetic, organized and nurturing, cooks well, drives safely, and helps the children become more independent and responsible.

The live-in nanny will have a private, furnished basement suite with a bedroom with a door, a full bed, a private bathroom and a small gym. Household essentials are provided, and the nanny may use the common areas. The family belongs to a local pool club. One weekend per month, the nanny works the same hours as a regular weekday and gets extra days off during that week to make up for it. In summer, the schedule usually changes to 7:00–8:00 AM and 4:00–8:00 PM, with the same guaranteed hours.

Benefits: 2 weeks paid time off, 5 sick days, 2 personal days, gas and mileage reimbursement or use of the family car, private furnished living quarters, paid time off during family travel

    Responsibilities:

    • Wake the children and get them ready for school: breakfast, dressing, packed lunches and school bags
    • Drive both children to school by 9:00 AM and pick them up at 2:40 PM
    • Plan after-school time, such as playground outings, library visits, activities and playdates
    • Drive the children to activities and friends’ homes, and coordinate with other parents and caregivers

    • Supervise and swim with the children at the pool club
    • Encourage independence and responsibility, and redirect behavior calmly and consistently

    Requirements:

    • 3+ years of professional nanny experience
