    Lead Mechanic/Technician Job Description in Huntington, TX, US Role Overview: Reports directly to a Maintenance Supervisor or Manager and provides guidance to technicians for ensuring equipment repairs comply with safety standards and regulations. Accountable for maintaining chassis, refuse bodywork, hydraulic, electrical, and HVAC systems. Identifies complex repairs, provides diagnostic coaching to technicians, and conducts repair inspections. Manages repair work scheduling to enhance efficiency and safety while reducing shop downtime. Responsibilities: • Maintain expert knowledge and advanced proficiency in vehicle components such as chassis, refuse bodies, air and hydraulic braking systems, engine repair, suspension, drivetrain, steering systems, heating, and air conditioning systems. • Perform complex repair maintenance functions both on-site and on the road, including line maintenance welding and fabrication. • Provide guidance and direction to technicians to ensure safe, efficient, and timely repair and maintenance work. • Inspect repairs by third-party vendors to ensure compliance with safety procedures and regulations. • Conduct repair diagnostics on complex issues and use electronic tools to identify malfunctions. • Complete relevant Company training programs and handle Maintenance Supervisor responsibilities when needed. • Mentor technicians and perform other job-related duties as assigned. Qualifications: • Ability to perform inspections and repairs without supervision in some (not all required) of the following heavy truck, automotive systems Suspensions, Steering, General Engine, Transmissions, Brakes, Electrical, Hydraulics, Drive Train, and Diesel Emissions. • At least 3 years of experience in a role requiring compliance with OSHA Haz Com, OSHA Lock Out Tag Out, and all OSHA fire protection regulations is a plus but not required. • At least 1 year of supervisory or lead technician experience is a plus but not required. • ASE Heavy Truck Certifications (T1-T8) is a plus but not required • Valid Driver’s License. Minimum Requirements: • At least 3 years of experience as a technician working on heavy-duty trucks. Compensation: $35 - $40 hourly
