    Loan Officer

    Location: Yankton, SD (Tea, Springfield, Parkston considered) Full-Time | In-Branch

We’re looking for a Loan Officer to guide members through important financial decisions by providing knowledgeable, accurate, and member-focused lending solutions. This role blends relationship-building with analytical work in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.

    What You’ll Do

    • Interview members and process consumer loan applications for secured and unsecured products, including credit cards.
    • Research, verify, and analyze financial and credit information to support sound lending decisions.
    • Evaluate member creditworthiness and approve loans within assigned authority, referring exceptions as needed.
    • Ensure all loan documentation is complete, accurate, and compliant with Credit Union policies and regulations.
    • Communicate with members, coworkers, creditors, insurance companies, and realtors to resolve application questions or issues.
    • Explain and offer ancillary loan products such as GAP, Debt Protection, and mechanical breakdown coverage.
    • Manage a high volume of loan applications with a focus on same-day turnaround and service excellence.
    • Participate in special projects and perform other duties as assigned.

    What You’ll Bring

    • High School Diploma or GED required; Associate degree or higher preferred.
    • 1–3 years of lending and/or financial services experience preferred.
    • Strong analytical skills and ability to apply basic math concepts such as percentages and ratios.
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with a member-first mindset.
    • Ability to manage multiple applications simultaneously with accuracy, attention to detail, and confidentiality.
    • Comfort working in a fast-paced environment with high workload expectations.
    • Willingness to obtain a South Dakota Notary Public license within six months of hire.
    • Ability to obtain an NMLS number to accept mortgage applications.

    (Loan Officer level and salary grade will be determined based on experience and qualifications.)
