Job Summary

The Loan Specialist 1 (LS 1) is responsible for the accurate processing and disbursement of credit union loans. This position plays a key role in guiding members through the loan process and ensuring compliance with internal policies and regulatory standards. Responsibilities

Process loan applications, insurance loans, and collateral protection insurance.

Ensure all loan documentation is accurate, complete, and compliant.

Assist members by explaining loan terms, insurance requirements, policies, and options.

Disburse loans and ensure all required paperwork and system information are accurate.

Review loan files to verify required documents, signatures, notices, and data.

Maintain organized and updated lending department files.

Cross-sell value-added products (e.g., GAP, VSI, Extended Warranty, Life & Disability Insurance).

Respond to member inquiries via phone and in person.

Promote credit union products and services during member interactions.

Ensure compliance with all lending regulations, including the Bank Secrecy Act.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Required:

High School Diploma or GED

Minimum 1 year of customer service experience

Strong organizational and communication skills

Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

Ability to learn internal loan processing systems

Preferred:

Experience with financial institution lending platforms

Bilingual (Spanish)

Experience in relationship-based selling or product referrals
