A local NYC City Council Campaign is seeking a passionate and extremely organized Operations Intern!
We're looking for someone who is excited about the opportunity to work for a first-time, progressive campaign. An ideal candidate would have political experience. We're looking for someone "different": someone who is savvy and thoughtful, detailed and organized, a naturally talented risk-taker who is assertive and determined, yet compassionate and always holds space in their heart for "the people".
This role is part-time and temporary, M-F with occasional weekends, for 20hrs/week. It pays $20.00/hour; the position is contracted monthly and paid bi-weekly. There may be potential opportunities for overtime pay as election day approaches.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Lead day-to-day campaign operations alongside the Candidate and Executive Committee Members
Participate in collaborative communications with stakeholders
Work alongside the candidate to conduct outreach to potential donors and organizations and provide feedback on campaign trajectory
Lead weekly briefings with the campaign team, reporting updates on fundraising, marketing, strategy, and communications
Improves campaign efficiency by analyzing data and implementing feedback to maximize use of limited resources (i.e. time and money)
Manage and create content for campaign social media accounts (Instagram and Twitter)
Other tasks as comfort level with the role increases, such as but not limited to, administrative tasks, data collection and entry, assisting campaign development and strategies, drafting external correspondence, speeches, etc., and participating in meetings with other candidates and constituents
WHO SHOULD APPLY?
Someone who:
Has exceptional interpersonal and public speaking skills
Is skilled in various digital platforms including but not limited to Google Suite, Zoom, Microsoft Office, Canva, etc.
Feels confident in making campaign decisions and able to work independently
Thrives in a diverse environment
Feels comfortable working with a small, grassroots team
Has at least a high school degree and some college experience
Candidates should have or pursuing a degree in political science, business administration, marketing, advertising, public relations, humanities, or a similar field. However, a unique combination of personal and professional experience is valued most.
You will be activating voters to increase turnout in this year.
Is a go-getter, someone who is a strong-minded but also cares to listen to others when making decisions
Can quickly develop the ability to anticipate the needs of the candidate
Isn't afraid to ask questions or for help
Can perform physical functions such as walking and light lifting.
Though this role is remote due to COVID-19, some participation/attendance at (CDC compliant) campaign field events is expected. We are looking for someone who feels comfortable standing during campaign events and walking around the community for up to 5 hours.
