  • Responsibilities

    ABOUT YOUR ROLE:

    You will be directly involved in building Locomation's automated driving technology from design through manufacturing and testing. You will work closely with systems and hardware engineers to integrate Locomation technology onto existing trucks, making them safe and productive for our partners and customers.

    ABOUT YOUR WORK:

    • Help design and maintain the base frameworks, hardware interfaces, and diagnostic systems for automated driving.
    • Design and develop algorithms for one or more of perception; behavior and motion planning; positioning and localization; vehicle control; and other key subsystems.
    • Collaborate with the hardware team to define software/hardware interfaces.
    • Work closely with mechanical, electrical, and software engineering teams to develop systems from concept to production.
    • Establish and support test activities to verify component and system behaviors.
    • Perform all your work with an eye for safety.

    ADDITIONAL DUTIES:

    • Be willing to travel locally and interstate in support of testing activities.

    ABOUT YOU:

    • Be hands-on, willing, and able to design and build things yourself when needed.
    • Have led or been involved in small teams building interesting software.
    • Be self-directed with the ability to multi-task and deal with time pressure in an unstructured environment.
    • Hold a Bachelors, Masters, or Ph.D. in Computer Science, Robotics, or other related field.

    SPECIFIC SKILLS THAT WE ARE INTERESTED IN:

    • Fluent in one or more programming languages, preferably in C, C++, or Python.
    • Hands on experience programming real autonomous or robotic platforms.
    • Understanding of common sensor errors and calibration techniques.
    • Prior experience with automated driving systems.

    NICE TO HAVES:

    • Have experience working with automated driving sensors, e.g., radar, LiDAR, INS, GPS, cameras, etc.
    • Have experience working with automotive or similar industry standards.
    • Have experience with safety critical software design.
    • Proven ability to build, test, and iterate quickly.
    • Ability to learn new technologies quickly.
    • Flexibility and adaptability to work in a growing, dynamic team.
    • Demonstrated ability to work on cross-functional teams.
    • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
    • Experience at a start-up.
    • Experience in the auto industry.
    • Extra bonus if you have experience in autonomous vehicle development.
