    ABOUT YOUR ROLE:

    Your main function will be to safely operate Locomation's trucks in and around our workshop facilities, on test courses, and on the highway. We are looking for drivers that are curious about the future of highway transportation, interested in the technology under the hood, and dedicated to safety.  You will contribute to our automated driving technology by managing the day to day operations of our fleet and by providing a driver's perspective in system design and testing activities.  You will be in the driver's seat helping to reshape the future of transportation and the trucking industry. 

    ABOUT YOUR WORK: 

    • Operate Class 8 trucks and a variety of trailers.
    • Transport vehicles around Locomation's workshop and yard, to and from service centers, and to and from test locations.
    • Operate vehicles and automated driving systems on closed test courses.
    • Operate vehicles and automated driving systems on interstate highways.
    • Collaborate closely with our team of engineers to give feedback and insight from a driver's perspective.
    • Participate in developing driver training materials and standards
    • Observe and report equipment or mechanical failures.
    • Conduct daily inspections of the vehicle and perform minor maintenance functions.
    • Log vehicle activities and report on vehicle and fleet status.
    • Comply with all DOT and Locomation regulations and rules.
    • Serve as a brand advocate and ambassador in every interaction with the team, our clients, and the public.

    ABOUT YOU:

    • Valid Class A commercial driver's license (CDL) with 2+ years experience.
    • Proven work experience as a truck driver.
    • Knowledge of applicable laws, rules, and regulations.
    • Adaptability and foresight to handle unexpected situations (traffic, weather conditions etc.) .
    • No serious tickets or accidents in last 5 years.
    • No DWI/DUI in last 5 years.
    • Pass a criminal background and pre-employment drug check. 
    • Able to learn new software applications and processes.   
    • Willing to occasionally travel to local and interstate test and engineering sites.

    NICE TO HAVES: 

    • Flexibility and adaptability to work in a small but growing team. 
    • Excellent communication and teamwork skills. 
    • Experience at a start-up. 
    • Experience in autonomous vehicle development.
    • Hands on experience with electronic equipment and software (GPS, AVL units, CB etc.).
    • High school diploma/GED.
