Position Overview
CLFC Healthcare and Communications is building its South Carolina locum physician roster to provide as-needed general and specialty medical coverage at state agency facilities. Selected physicians join a qualified-provider list and accept per-assignment engagements based on availability and facility need.
This is flexible, per-assignment locum work for MD or DO physicians who want to control their own schedule while supporting public-sector clinical care.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform history and physical examinations and establish diagnoses.
- Provide treatment, chronic disease management, and sick-call coverage.
- Write orders and prescriptions consistent with scope and facility formulary.
- Coordinate care with nursing and multidisciplinary teams.
- Document encounters in the facility electronic health record per protocol.
Required Qualifications
- MD or DO degree from an accredited medical school.
- Active South Carolina medical license, or eligibility to obtain licensure prior to assignment.
- Board certification or board eligibility.
- Active DEA registration.
- Ability to clear required background screening.
Strongly Preferred Qualifications
- Family medicine, internal medicine, or correctional health experience.
- Specialty board certification for premium specialty assignments.
- Immediate or near-term availability for assignment.
Compensation and Engagement Details
- Hourly rate range: $109 to $132 per hour (1099 independent contractor) for general assignments; specialty assignments are compensated at higher per-assignment rates.
- As-needed engagement; you accept assignments based on your availability.
- CLFC provides credentialing coordination, scheduling, and administrative support.
