Locum PMHNP | June 29-July3 | Residential Behavioral Health Coverage

    About the Opportunity

We are hiring an experienced Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner for a short-term locum assignment at a residential behavioral health program in Cumberland Furnace, TN.

This is an on-site role from June 29 through July 3 , covering psychiatric needs while the regular psychiatric providers are away. The provider will work closely with program leadership and the clinical team to support clients in a trauma-informed residential setting.

There may also be an opportunity for ongoing PRN coverage after this initial assignment for the right provider.

    Schedule

    • Dates: June 29 – July 3
    • Hours: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM
    • Setting: Residential behavioral health
    • Location: On-site in Cumberland Furnace, TN
    • Call: As needed after hours; primarily remote
    • Future opportunity: Potential for ongoing PRN coverage after the initial assignment

After-hours call is expected to be handled by phone in most cases. Returning to campus would be very rare, and the team will make every effort to avoid that during this short assignment.

    Responsibilities

    • Provide psychiatric coverage for residential clients
    • Conduct psychiatric check-ins and medication management as needed
    • Respond to psychiatric concerns during business hours
    • Collaborate with clinical staff and program leadership
    • Support clients with trauma histories and higher-acuity behavioral health needs
    • Provide after-hours call support as needed
    • Escalate major concerns to the available Medical Director when appropriate

    Qualifications

    • Licensed Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner
    • Active Tennessee license preferred
    • Experience in residential, inpatient, trauma, or high-acuity behavioral health settings strongly preferred
    • Comfortable working with personality disorders, suicidal ideation, trauma histories, and complex psychiatric presentations
    • Strong clinical judgment and ability to work independently
    • Relational, calm, professional, and team-oriented
    • Prior locum, PRN, or short-term coverage experience is a plus

    Ideal Fit

The ideal candidate is experienced, confident, and comfortable stepping into a temporary coverage role with minimal ramp-up time. This assignment is not ideal for a newer provider, as the setting requires strong judgment, emotional steadiness, and comfort with higher-acuity behavioral health presentations.

This could also be a strong fit for a provider who is interested in building an ongoing PRN relationship with a residential behavioral health program beyond the initial coverage week.

    Interview Process

The interview process will be quick and practical. Qualified candidates will likely meet with program leadership and possibly one of the psychiatric providers to confirm fit, availability, and comfort with the setting.
