Position Overview
CLFC Healthcare and Communications is building its South Carolina locum psychiatry roster to provide as-needed coverage at state agency facilities. Selected physicians join a qualified-provider list and accept per-assignment engagements based on their availability and facility need.
This is flexible, per-assignment locum work for board-certified or board-eligible psychiatrists who want to set their own availability while supporting public-sector behavioral health.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct psychiatric evaluations and establish diagnoses.
- Provide medication management and ongoing treatment planning.
- Perform crisis assessment and risk evaluation as needed.
- Coordinate care with multidisciplinary clinical teams.
- Document encounters in the facility electronic health record per protocol.
- Deliver telepsychiatry coverage where authorized by the facility.
Required Qualifications
- MD or DO degree from an accredited medical school.
- Active South Carolina medical license, or eligibility to obtain licensure prior to assignment.
- Board certification or board eligibility in psychiatry.
- Active DEA registration.
- Ability to clear required background screening.
Strongly Preferred Qualifications
- Correctional, forensic, or public-sector psychiatry experience.
- Immediate or near-term availability for assignment.
- Telepsychiatry experience.
Compensation and Engagement Details
- Hourly rate range: $133 to $161 per hour (1099 independent contractor), per assignment.
- As-needed engagement; you accept assignments based on your availability.
- CLFC provides credentialing coordination, scheduling, and administrative support.
