We are seeking a Locum Tenens Outpatient Psychiatrist to provide high-quality psychiatric care to Veterans at the Houston VA Medical Center. This is a 100% outpatient role with no inpatient, overnight, or emergency department responsibilities.

You’ll work within a collaborative, interdisciplinary mental health team serving a diverse Veteran population.

Responsibilities

• Conduct outpatient psychiatric evaluations and follow-up visits

• Provide medication management and treatment planning

• Diagnose and treat a broad range of mental health conditions

• Perform suicide risk assessments and crisis interventions (outpatient setting)

• Document all encounters in the VA electronic health record (CPRS/Cerner)

• Collaborate with psychology, social work, nursing, and primary care teams

Schedule & Coverage

• Monday–Friday, daytime clinic hours

• No nights, weekends, or call

• Assignment length: Ongoing with option to extend

Qualifications

• MD or DO from an accredited medical school

• Completion of an ACGME-accredited Psychiatry residency

• Board-Certified or Board-Eligible in Psychiatry (ABPN preferred)

• Active, unrestricted medical license (any U.S. state)

• Active DEA registration

• Ability to meet VA credentialing and privileging requirements
