    Job Description

    Lodder CPA is hiring an in-office full-time Staff Accountant and Tax Preparer to assist our team of experienced tax accountants. To be considered for this role you must have experience in basic tax preparation, a working knowledge of tax law and a willingness to learn the firm's processes and workflow. At Lodder CPA, we aren't just your standard accounting firm. We are a small, family-oriented boutique international tax firm operating in beautiful Whatcom County in the Pacific Northwest. We are perfectly situated between Seattle and Vancouver and are closely located next to the U.S.-Canada border which is conducive to our tax practice. We provide tax preparation and tax consulting services in the cross-border tax area focusing on clients who have international tax needs. We are highly technical and detail oriented and strive to provide high quality service. Our clients appreciate our timely tax return preparation, small firm personalized interactions and our technical knowledge of both U.S. and international tax law. Within our firm we have a team atmosphere and are looking forward to welcoming new team members. We have recently moved into our brand-new state-of-the-art office facility in Lynden, Washington and the office will accommodate our team well to allow the company to provide a comfortable work environment and meeting place for our expanding team and growing client base. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: · Prepare federal and state income tax returns including individual, business and partnership returns · Support the team with various other components of tax engagements including perform tax research and communicate with tax authorities REQUIRED EDUCATION OR EXPERIENCE: · Bachelor's degree from an accredited university in a business-related field (accounting preferred) including the necessary additional credits to be eligible for the CPA exam, or a two-year degree and 3-5 years of progressive work experience in accounting with a drive to complete undergraduate degree · Obtained CPA license, or working towards this accreditation QUALIFICATIONS: * High moral integrity * Experience with tax return preparation and tax related software is helpful, but not required * Basic understanding of accounting and U.S. income tax laws * Willingness to grow and expand accounting and international tax knowledge * Experience working as a team, willing to collaborate with team members * Work well in a dynamic work environment, assisting colleagues and clients with questions as needed, and switching gears as needed to keep multiple work streams moving * Must be legally authorized to work in the United States upon hire * Accurate, organized and efficient * Strong written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills * Strong organizational skills COMPENSATION: · Competitive pay and benefit package available, depending on experience · Compensation package includes performance bonus opportunities, retirement account including 3% employer contribution match, health insurance reimbursement, generous paid time off policy for vacation and holidays, flexible working schedules
