Lodestar Financials is looking for a self-motivated Lead Accountant who has Big 4 or large regional firm Public Accounting (Audit) experience (required). This role will be a client-facing role requiring 30 hours per week, guiding and advising our business owners/leaders. Candidates MUST be in the US with strong interpersonal communication skills! We are looking for highly responsive & proactive communicators. We are looking for someone who can grow into a larger role in the near future (Accounting Manager/Assistant Controller level). This Lead Accountant will be responsible for managing the financial records for clients. This person should be confident in leading and directing bookkeepers. The ideal candidate must be able to demonstrate a proactive work ethic, with a proven track record of solving complex accounting problems. This professional must have the ability and desire to have confident & positive interactions with the client. The Lead Accountant should have an intermediate to advanced working knowledge of third-party tools/apps like Quickbooks, Bill.com, and Gusto (or other Payroll systems). Intermediate to advanced Excel skills are also necessary to be successful in this role. Responsibilities: • Assist with onboarding new clients. • Create & maintain a custom chart of accounts, based on Lodestar’s base model and client’s needs. • Prepare balance sheet reconciliations and support schedules. • Review client financial statements on a monthly/quarterly basis to ensure all reconciliations are completed, and data is complete & accurate. • Prepare monthly/quarterly/annual financial reporting packages and deliver them to clients. • Host client-facing financial review meetings or other ad-hoc meetings with client(s). • Assist with creating & maintaining rules and recurring transactions in Quickbooks. • Evaluate, create, and post journal entries for accounts such as Prepaid Expenses, Fixed Assets, Debt/Loans and Payroll. • Meet the designated due date for the client’s financial close. • Invoice customers on behalf of client(s) where required. • Prepare/Review and file Sales Tax returns on behalf of the client(s) on a timely basis. • Ensure QBO bank feeds are kept current (2-3x per week), attaching source documentation as necessary. • Ensure bookkeepers are entering bills from Vendors (in BILL.com) Qualifications: • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting. • 3+ years of audit experience at Ernst & Young, KPMG, PWC, Deloitte, or other large regional CPA firms. • 1-3 years of industry accounting. • Demonstrate a strong understanding of GAAP accounting • Provide specific examples of having solved complex accounting issues • Demonstrate the ability to improve processes. • Appropriate technical skills to understand the underlying principles of tasks. • High attention to detail and willingness to self-review. • Ability to train other team members while demonstrating an understanding of the business needs and impacts of accounting processes. • Seeks to continually improve in all assigned tasks via development opportunities and sharing of knowledge. • Independently able to prioritize and complete assigned tasks and provide alternatives when roadblocks occur. • Excellent communication skills with both internal and external constituents. • Familiarity with accounting software systems (Quickbooks / NetSuite preferred). • Proficient with Microsoft Office and Google Apps, including the ability to utilize pivot tables and formulas to manipulate data. • Must possess the ability to maintain confidentiality as the role will be exposed to sensitive information. • Must be physically located in the U.S. • Provide your own computer and camera for meetings. • You must have/work in a professional/quiet setting.
