Regional Operations Manager
Overview:
Manage and lead dock and delivery services successfully through proper staffing, productivity, quality control, safety, and compliance measures as established by the Director of Operations. This position will also work directly with customers and vendors to enhance our services and grow the business.
Skills/Qualifications:
5+ years of experience overseeing multiple locations
Relevant Logistics/Transportation work experience required
Exposure to and understanding of applicable regulations defined by DOT, OSHA, and TSA Cargo Policy
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university, or equivalent industry-related experience
Inventory management
Excellent communications skills and a high bar for accuracy and details
Experience leading teams and providing management, leadership, and mentoring to team members as needed
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and able to learn and use internal software applications
Regional Operations Manager (ROM) duties include (but are not limited to):
SAFETY! The Regional Operations Manager must ensure the safety of operations personnel by maintaining a safe working environment and by fostering a culture that promotes safety
Driver/Public Safety. The Regional Operations Manager is responsible for ensuring the company vehicles are held to proper DOT standards. The ROM must assure all drivers are properly trained and prepared to safely operate a vehicle under DOT regulations at all times. The ROM must also ensure that all vehicles conform to local, state, and federal transportation guidelines.
Collaborate with Directors to set policies, objectives, and initiatives for the region
Ensure compliance of the terminals with all organizational policies and procedures
Ability to create and execute corrective action plans to satisfy organizational goals
Accountable for delivering annual operating plan and cost savings objectives for the respective region
Responsible for evaluating current and proposed processes and systems as well as determining and implementing changes
Provides continual coaching and guidance to Terminal Managers in the performance of duties and functions for their respective responsibilities, including hiring, training, and development of staff
Directly responsible for maintaining an efficient cost-advantaged company transport fleet
Effectively present information and respond to questions from senior executives, employees, clients, and carriers
Demonstrate strong interpersonal skills and develop appropriate leadership and management
Prep weekly safety meeting topics and material
Review and approve operational invoices and ensure they are submitted for payment
Manage project performance including scope, safety, quality, schedule, cost, and customer satisfaction to meet or beat target goals
Develop, track, and communicate operational metrics with the aim of improving performance across the organization
Responsible for data integrity and timely reporting to the senior leadership team
Ability to travel to terminals regularly to support and develop the management team, audit the operations, and identify opportunities for improvement
