Logistics Coordinator/Dispatcher
Location: Elk Grove Village, IL (On-site)

Position Summary
The Logistics Coordinator / Dispatcher is responsible for scheduling, routing, and tracking shipments to ensure efficient and on-time delivery of goods. This role serves as the communication hub between drivers, warehouse staff, and customers, while also managing key administrative and logistical tasks that support daily operations. The ideal candidate is organized, detail-oriented, and thrives in a fast-paced logistics environment.
Key Responsibilities
Dispatching & Transportation Coordination
· Schedule and dispatch drivers, carriers, or delivery teams based on shipment priorities and customer requirements
· Plan efficient routes to minimize travel time and fuel costs while meeting delivery schedules
· Monitor shipments in real time; communicate with drivers to address delays, traffic issues, or route changes
· Maintain accurate records of loads, routes, driver logs, and delivery confirmations
· Ensure compliance with DOT regulations, safety standards, and company policies
· Manage communication between warehouse, drivers, and customers to ensure smooth operations
· Track and update shipment statuses in dispatch or TMS (Transportation Management System) software
· Coordinate with third-party carriers, brokers, and vendors when needed
Logistics & Office Support
· Prepare shipping documents, bills of lading, manifests, and related paperwork
· Assist with load planning, freight quotes, and rate negotiation when applicable
· Maintain and update customer profiles, routes, and service preferences
· Support warehouse staff with scheduling inbound/outbound loads
· Compile reports on delivery performance, on-time rates, and cost efficiency
· Respond promptly to customer inquiries, delivery status updates, or service issues
Qualifications & Skills
· 2–5 years in logistics coordination, dispatching, or transportation operations
· Strong understanding of routing, freight scheduling, and load management
· Familiarity with TMS, GPS tracking, or dispatch software
· Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
· Strong attention to detail and accuracy in documentation
· Ability to multitask and manage competing priorities under time pressure
· Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook)
· Knowledge of DOT regulations and driver hours of service (HOS) requirements
· Customer service–oriented mindset with professionalism and responsiveness
· Ability to work flexible or extended hours as needed
Working Conditions
· Office environment with frequent interaction with drivers, warehouse staff, and customers
· May require occasional warehouse or yard visits
· Standard weekday hours; may require early mornings, evenings, or weekends based on operational needs
· Use of dispatch systems, GPS tracking tools, and two-way communication devices
