The transportation dispatcher oversees the coordination of freight movement across multiple lanes, ensuring efficient routing and on-time delivery. This role requires strong decision-making skills, real-time problem solving, and the ability to communicate clearly with drivers, customers, and internal departments.

Primary Duties

• Plan, schedule, and dispatch drivers for inbound and outbound freight.
• Monitor driver locations, hours of service, and equipment availability.
• Optimize loads to maximize efficiency and reduce empty miles.
• Communicate load details, special instructions, and schedule changes to drivers.
• Update transportation management systems with accurate load status and documentation.
• Respond to unexpected issues such as delays, breakdowns, or customer changes.
• Coordinate with customer service to ensure accurate delivery information and resolve concerns.
• Support safety initiatives by reinforcing compliance and reporting incidents.
