Position Summary

The Dispatch and Routing Coordinator is responsible for managing daily delivery schedules, assigning routes, and coordinating the movement of drivers and freight to ensure efficient, safe, and on-time delivery operations. This position requires strong organizational and communication skills, as well as the ability to make real-time decisions to address changes in delivery schedules, traffic conditions, and customer needs.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Plan, create, and optimize daily delivery routes to maximize efficiency and minimize operational costs.

Dispatch drivers with complete and accurate route information, including delivery instructions and special handling requirements.

Monitor route progress and driver performance throughout the day using GPS and dispatch software.

Communicate with drivers to provide updates, resolve issues, and ensure adherence to delivery timelines.

Adjust and reassign routes in response to traffic delays, cancellations, or last-minute order changes.

Coordinate with warehouse, customer service, and operations teams to ensure accurate order preparation and delivery sequencing.

Track key performance indicators (on-time delivery, route efficiency, driver compliance).

Maintain accurate dispatch records, route sheets, and delivery confirmations.

Respond to customer inquiries and provide real-time delivery updates as needed.

Ensure compliance with DOT, safety, and company operational standards.

Participate in process improvement efforts to enhance routing accuracy and service quality.
